The Mwanza HIV Research Collaboration (NIMR/AMREF/LSHTM) in Tanzania has been carrying out trials of HIV prevention measures since the late 1980’s. Since 2001, the Mwanza Collaboration has been one of the partners in the Microbicide Development Programme.

The trial population will be drawn from women working in food and recreational facilities in 11 administrative wards in Mwanza City.

The Co-Principal Investigators are Dr Claire Moffat (AMREF), Professor Richard Hayes (LSHTM), Mr John Changalucha (NIMR) and Dr David Ross (LSHTM).
